Lucknow: After meeting SP MLA and SP chief Shivpal Singh Yadav, a Samajwadi Party delegation led by Samajwadi Party leader Ravidas Mehrotra on Sunday reached the Sitapur district jail to meet Azam Khan, who is lodged in Sitapur district jail. He met Azam Khan and discussed several issues.

Ravidas Mehrotra, who came out of the jail after the same meeting, made a big statement saying that Azam Khan could be killed in jail. Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been in jail for 26 months under a conspiracy by the BJP. They have been subjected to small lawsuits. The BJP can get him killed in jail anytime.

On the question of Azam Khan forming a new party, Ravidas said that Azam Khan has always been a Samajwadi Party leader and will continue to do so. He contested the elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket while in jail and also won. In such a situation, the talk of going out of the Samajwadi Party is only a rumour. There is nothing like that. Azam Khan has always been with the Samajwadi Party and the SP has always been and will continue to be the benefactor of Azam Khan.
