Lucknow: Police on Monday arrested five party workers in connection with abuse by Samajwadi Party (SP) workers in connection with Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Sports Upendra Tiwari. The family of Minister of State Upendra Tiwari has demanded that a case be registered against the accused under the POCSO Act as the slogans targeted Upendra Tiwari's nine and 11-year-old two minor daughters along with his mother.
Police had on Sunday registered a case against 10 persons including the newly elected Zilla panchayat president and his father for shouting obscene slogans against Tiwari. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Yadav said SP workers Shailendra Yadav, Manish Yadav, Tinkal Singh, Shivpal Singh Yadav, and Vikas Kumar Ojha have been arrested in connection with the alleged objectionable sloganeering case. A case was registered against ten persons including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav, a cabinet minister in the government Ambika Chaudhary and her son and newly elected Zilla panchayat president Anand Chaudhary, on a complaint by Ashwini Tiwari, nephew of state Minister of State (Independent Charge) Upendra Tiwari, in Ballia city Kotwali on Sunday.
According to Tiwari's complaint, a victory procession was taken out at 5 pm on July 3 to commemorate the victory of the newly elected SP Zilla panchayat president Anand Chaudhary during which some youths allegedly used obscene and derogatory words for Upendra Tiwari and his family and relatives.
