Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, along with other notable figures in the Telugu Film Industry (TFI), has called on the Telangana government to release a report addressing sexual harassment, similar to the Hema Committee Report.

In a recent Instagram story, Samantha shared a statement titled "Voice of Women in TFI," which has been endorsed by several women within the Telugu film community. The statement expressed support for the Hema Committee report and acknowledged the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) in Kerala for its pioneering efforts.

"We, the women of the Telugu film industry, welcome the Hema Committee report and commend the ongoing work of the WCC in Kerala, which has paved the way for this crucial moment," the statement read. Samantha's post highlighted that the "Voice of Women," a support group established in 2019, aims to address similar issues within TFI.

The statement also called on the Telangana government to publish its own report on sexual harassment. It urged the release of the sub-committee's findings to help formulate effective policies and create a safer working environment for women in the TFI.

In addition to Samantha, the statement was shared by Telugu actors Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, Suma Kanakala, Pragathi Mahavadi, and film director and screenwriter Nandini Reddy.

About the Hema Committee Report
The Hema Committee Report, a comprehensive 235-page document, exposed serious allegations of sexual abuse by male actors within the Malayalam film industry. The report highlighted that the industry is dominated by a small group of male producers, directors, and actors.

Following the release of the report, several women actors came forward with their own complaints, leading to the filing of FIRs against prominent figures including actor-politician Mukesh, Sidhique, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu, and director Ranjith. The committee, established by the Kerala government in response to a 2017 assault case, revealed widespread harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam cinema industry.
