New Delhi: Samsung display, an auxiliary of Samsung Electronics, is about to take a  legal action against BOE Technology, a renowned Chinese display manufacturer.  The lawsuit accuses BOE of infringing on five of Samsung's patents related to OLED displays used in mobile devices.

Samsung Display lodged the complaint in a federal court in Texas, asserting that BOE has violated its patents, which cover advancements in OLED display image quality, efficiency, and durability. These patented technologies are utilized in various mobile devices, including Apple's popular iPhone 12.

In its lawsuit, Samsung seeks both damages and an injunction to prevent BOE from continuing to infringe upon its patents. This legal battle represents the latest episode in an ongoing series of patent disputes between the two companies. In 2021, Samsung initiated a similar lawsuit against BOE in China.

Jong-hee Han, president of Samsung Display, emphasized the substantial investments made by the company in research and development to pioneer innovative display technologies. Han stated, "We will take all necessary steps to protect our intellectual property and ensure that our customers continue to benefit from our cutting-edge display technologies." As of now, BOE Technology has not issued a response to the lawsuit.
