In the Haryana assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not only proved all the exit polls wrong but has also surprised the opposition parties. Everyone is surprised by this unexpected victory of the BJP, including its opponents. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut himself has praised the victory of the BJP. Raut described the election campaign of the BJP as "praiseworthy", especially when the chances of BJP winning were being estimated low before the elections.

Sanjay Raut praises BJP:  Sanjay Raut said, "Both the states (Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir) have their own importance, but Jammu and Kashmir was more important for the BJP. BJP lost there, where it had removed Article 370. BJP won in Haryana because Congress felt that they can win on their own and they do not need any allies. If Congress had formed an alliance with Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), or other regional parties, the results could have been different." Raut further said, "The way BJP fought the elections is commendable. BJP has won a lost battle, which is really praiseworthy."

TMC criticized Congress:  After the defeat of Congress in Haryana, the allies of Congress in the opposition alliance have also openly criticized it. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saket Gokhale targeted the Congress without naming it. Gokhale wrote on social media, "The thinking that if we are winning in a state, then we do not need an alliance with regional parties leads to defeat. At the same time, where we are weak, we should give space to regional parties. This kind of arrogance and looking down upon regional parties leads to disaster." This comment of Saket Gokhale is being considered a direct attack on the strategy of Congress to contest elections alone. He indicated that the Congress-led opposition parties need to take their allies along in the right way. It is worth noting that apart from TMC, opposition parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Communist Party of India (CPI) have also criticized this strategy of Congress.

Arvind Kejriwal and D. Raja's opinion:  Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal also commented on the Congress' defeat and said that the biggest lesson from the recent elections is that one should not be 'overconfident'. He said that ignoring the strength of the alliance proved to be detrimental for the Congress. In Haryana, the AAP was keen to form an alliance with the Congress, but the Congress had rejected the proposal.

Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary D. Raja also said that the Congress needs to introspect on the election results of Haryana. He advised the Congress to plan to walk together with all opposition parties in the upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. D. Raja said, "Congress will have to coordinate better with its allies to maintain opposition unity."

Congress needs introspection:  After the defeat in Haryana, this election result is a big setback for the Congress. The criticism of opposition parties and the displeasure of allies has further weakened the position of the Congress. Political analysts believe that the Congress will now have to take alliance politics seriously, otherwise it may have to suffer even more in future elections. This defeat of the Congress has proved that it is necessary to form an alliance with regional parties. The strategic mistakes of the Congress in Haryana have made it clear that without a united opposition, it can be difficult to compete with a strong party like the BJP. If the Congress does not learn a lesson from this defeat in time, then the challenges for it may increase further in important states like Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
