April 13, 1919, is a historic date that makes every Indian bleed. In fact, Baisakhi of 1919 was the day when the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place. General Reginald Dyer reached there around 5.30 pm and surrounded the entire park with his army. Dyer then ordered his army to fire directly without saying anything.

Thousands of people lost their lives in the firing that took place during that time. The massacre sparked outrage across the country, and in the meantime, there was one person with passion on his head. The man was none other than Udham Singh. He was determined to teach a lesson to General Resinold Dyer and then Punjab Governor Michael O'Dwire and then joined the revolutionaries. Udham Singh waited for the right opportunity for 21 years to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and then avenged himself. Meanwhile, Reginald Dyer died of illness.

In view of this, Udham Singh focused his entire attention on Michael O'Dwire. He then opened fire on Michael O'Dwire during a meeting of the East India Association and the Royal Central Asian Society at Caxton Hall in London on March 13, 1940. That day, Udham Singh shot four people in a hall in which only Michael O'Dwire died. Udham Singh did not try to escape after fulfilling his revenge pledge but stood there. He was then arrested and tried. On June 4, 1940, Udham Singh was convicted of murder and hanged in Pentonville jail on July 31, 1940. Today, people also call him Udham Singh a Shaheed-e-Azam.
