AIADMK leader VK Sasikala has been granted 15-day parole to attend her husband’s funeral after she had sought parole following her husband’s death earlier in the day.

Sasikala is lodged in the Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail for a term of four years in connection with the Rs. 66.6-crore disproportionate assets case. She left the prison on Tuesday afternoon.

Sasikala’s husband M Natarajan, aged 74, passed away on Tuesday morning at a hospital in Chennai. M Natarajan breathed his last at the Gleneagles Global Health City hospital in Chennai. He was admitted there on Saturday for chest infection.

“Every possible attempt was made to sustain his revival. However, despite their best efforts, he was unable to recover,” said Shanmuga Priyan, Chief Operation Officer, Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai on Natarajan’s death.

Natarajan’s body was kept at his residence in Chennai until 11 AM. The last rites will be performed at his native place in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Sasikala will be reaching there to attend the last rites of her husband.

M Natarajan was a government public relations officer who served for 33 years.

In October last year, M Natarajan was admitted to hospital for a kidney transplant. Sasikala was granted parole then to meet her ill husband.
