Saudi Arabia Limits Travelers from 14 Countries to Single-Entry Visas

Saudi Arabia has announced a major visa policy change affecting travelers from 14 countries, including India, effective February 1, 2025. With this regulation, Saudi Arabia will issue only single-entry visas for travelers from these countries. This change affects tourism, business, and family visit visas. The previous one-year multiple-entry visa has been suspended indefinitely.

Who is Affected?

The rule applies to travelers from:

  • India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia
  • Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia
  • Sudan, Ethiopia, Nigeria
  • Jordan, Iraq, Yemen

New Visa Rules

Only single-entry visas will be given.
Each visa is valid for 30 days with a maximum stay of 30 days.
Hajj, Umrah, diplomatic, and residency visas remain the same.

Why the Change?

Saudi officials say some travelers misused multiple-entry visas. Many entered on long-term visas but stayed illegally or performed Hajj without permission.

Hajj Overcrowding Issues

Saudi Arabia strictly controls the annual Hajj pilgrimage, assigning each country a specific quota. But unauthorized pilgrims have overcrowded holy sites, making conditions dangerous.

In 2024, over 1,200 pilgrims died due to extreme heat and overcrowding. Officials believe unregistered pilgrims contributed to the crisis. This new visa rule aims to prevent such risks and ensure only approved pilgrims take part in Hajj.

Is This Permanent?

Officials say the ban on multiple-entry visas is temporary, but there is no clear timeline for review. The government will monitor the impact before making further decisions.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises travelers to apply for single-entry visas in advance and follow the new rules to avoid penalties or travel issues.

This move aims to better manage pilgrimage activities and keep visitors safe.

Important Updates for Travelers

Travellers scheduling to go on Saudi Arabia are advised to apply for single-entry visas in advance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stressed the significance of adhering to the new visa rules  so as to avoid penalties or disruptions during travel. Visitors from the impacted nations must adhere to Saudi Arabia's stricter immigration regulations to ensure a smooth travel experience.
