Riyadh: In the most recent report made public by the General Authority for Statistics, Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports, including re-exports, rose by 4.4 percent to SR24.9 billion ($6.62 billion) in October 2022 from SR23.9 billion recorded in October 2021.

According to GASTAT's report, the chemical and allied industries accounted for 40.9 percent of the Kingdom's non-oil merchandise exports in October.

The report also noted that overall merchandise exports rose by 13.9% in October to SR120.7 billion from SR106 billion in October 2021.

In October, the Kingdom's imports of goods increased by 39.3% to SR63.9 billion from SR45.9 billion during the same period in 2017.

According to the report, machinery, mechanical appliances, and electrical equipment parts made up the majority of all imported goods in October, accounting for 19.5% of all imports of goods.

The ratio of non-oil exports to imports decreased by 13.1% during that time period to reach 39 percent as imports increased year over year at a rate higher than non-oil exports did (39.3 percent vs. 4.4 percent, respectively).

The Kingdom's top trading partner for goods, China, accounted for 18.4% of all exports in October, worth SR22.2 billion.

According to the report, South Korea and Japan followed, accounting for a combined 10.3 percent of Saudi Arabia's total exports. In October 2022, their exports reached a total of 12.4 billion.

China was the top importer into Saudi Arabia during that time, accounting for 20.6 percent of all imports, or SR13.2 billion.

In October 2022, the US came in second with imports totaling SR6 billion, or 9.3% of Saudi imports. According to the report, the UAE came in third with SR4 billion in imports, or 6.3 percent of the total.

The top 10 exporting nations of Saudi Arabia received 68.2 percent of exports, while the top 10 importing nations received 62.7 percent.

Additionally, Jeddah Islamic Sea Port, the main port for imports for the Kingdom, allowed through 29.2 percent of the total.
