Indian women's hockey team captain Savita has said ahead of the two matches against hosts Belgium in the FIH Women's Hockey Pro League this weekend that her team has everything to win on foreign soil. The Indian team is currently in the third position with 22 points from 8 matches. Only Argentina and the Netherlands are ahead of them.
Belgium, on the other hand, is in 7th place with 12 points from 8 matches. The Indian team is scheduled to take on Belgium on June 11 and 12 at the Sportsenstrum Willrixe Plain Stadium in Antwerp. Savita said in a release issued by Hockey India, "We are ready to take on Belgium. There are many experienced players in our team who know what needs to be done to win on foreign soil.''
Continuing with her point, she said, "We have consistently done well in recent months and we are confident that we are able to win big matches abroad. In April, India had defeated Olympic champions Netherlands 2-1 in the first match but in the second match, they had to face a 1-3 defeat in the shoot-out. Savita further said, "We are working on the mistakes we made against the Netherlands in our last two matches. We are confident that we will not repeat the same mistakes in the upcoming matches.''
Deep Grace Ekka, who has been appointed vice-captain, has a say that there is a lot of confidence in the team and winning the next match is going to boost their morale even more before the World Cup. Not only that, they say we're ready. We have faith in ourselves, in our team and most importantly in each other. We know we have to keep our performance intact as we prepare for the FIH Hockey Women's World Cup which will take place in July this year.
