New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday hearing a petition has sent a notice to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The petition has demanded a refund of the entire amount due to cancellation of tickets for all domestic and international flights due to the lockdown issued across the country.

Justice N.V. A bench headed by Ramna heard the case. Other members of the bench include Justice S. K. Kaul and Justice BR Gawai is also included. While hearing the case through video conferencing, the bench said that it is 'arbitrary' not to refund the money for tickets booked for air travel after the lockdown. This petition has been filed by the expatriate legal cell through lawyer Jose Abraham.

The petition urges the Supreme Court to declare it illegal for airlines to not refund refund tickets. Also call it a violation of the civil aviation requirement issued by the DGCA. The petitioner claimed that instead of giving back the entire amount collected from the canceled tickets, the airlines were giving its credit shell for one year.
