The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is all set to organise trade mission to India from 29 May to 2 June.

The mission, which is being led by the SCCI's Sharjah Exports Development Centre, aims to improve economic and commercial ties, encourage investment, and forge relationships between Sharjah and India. The group, which will comprise representatives from the SCCI and important private industrial and commercial organisations in Sharjah, will be led by SCCI Chairman Abdullah Sultan Al Owais.

The SCCI's strategic objectives of expanding into international markets and looking into new opportunities for the Sharjah business community are in line with the objectives of the trade mission. By allowing more commerce and advancing important export industries, it will also promote the objectives of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and India, which went into effect in May 2022.

The group will present Sharjah's advantages and investment prospects throughout the course of the five-day mission, hoping to draw in foreign investors and persuade Indian companies to invest in fields that are consistent with Sharjah's economic vision and sustainable development objectives. The main locations for business conferences and meetings to promote interactions between representatives from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries would be Mumbai and New Delhi.

The New Indian Professional Business Council was founded in Sharjah in February 2023 with the goal of enhancing bilateral cooperation and increasing trade and investment volumes with friendly countries. This trade mission comes after its creation.

Trade and investment between the UAE and India have benefited from the CEPA's activation, with non-oil intra-trade hitting $45.5 billion in the first 11 months, a 6.9% annual increase.

In keeping with Sharjah and India's respective economic objectives and the CEPA, the trade mission to India aims to strengthen business ties, promote investment, and support cooperative ventures.
