New Delhi: In view of the declining cases of coronavirus infection, the Delhi government has now decided to open schools. The Delhi Disaster Management Department today announced the opening of schools in different phases at a meeting. Classes 9 to 12 schools will open from September 01 while classes 6 to 8 schools start from September 08.
The Expert Committee constituted by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority in its report had suggested to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi that schools should be reopened in several phases. Schools for senior classes will be started in the first phase and schools will be opened for classes 6 to 8 in the second phase. On the other hand, schools in primary classes should be opened in the third phase.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that the government is considering reopening schools at the earliest but a final decision will be taken only after consulting all stakeholders. Kejriwal had said, "There has been mixed experience of states that have reopened schools. We are monitoring the situation and will make a decision soon."
