NEW DELHI: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia on Thursday assumed the additional responsibility of the Steel Ministry. Currently, Scindia is in charge of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The third steel minister in the current Modi government is the 51-year-old BJP leader, who sits in the Rajya Sabha as Madhya Pradesh's representative.
Before taking charge, he took off his footwear and placed an idol of Lord Ganesha on the table of his office in Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi.
Scindia said in a tweet, "As per the Prime Minister's directives, I am accepting the duty as Minister of Steel." With the support of everyone who wishes me well, I will do my best to fulfill this new duty." "Took the additional task from @RCP Singh Ji of the Union Steel Ministry. In another tweet, he stated, "I will use my best efforts to fully discharge this obligation assigned by the top leadership to realise the hopes of the country.
In the presence of key ministry officials, including Steel Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, he assumed leadership.
Scindia will have back-to-back meetings with ministry staff members and departments on his first day as minister of steel. Additionally, according to an official, he will host meetings for the chiefs of all steel PSUs.
