Clashes broke out between the ruling party and opposition MPs in the Parliament House of Maldives on Sunday (January 27), due to which the proceedings were disrupted. According to Sun Online report, the clashes broke out during a special session called by President Mohammad Muizzu.

Not only this, MPs supporting People's National Congress (PNC) and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) started opposing the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) led by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Information received from sources said that there was a scuffle between MDP MP Isa and PNC MP Abdullah Shaheem Abdul Hakim. Shaheem Abdul caught hold of Isa's feet, due to which he fell down. After which Isa kicked Shaheem's neck and pulled his hair. After this incident, Abdullah Shaheem Abdul Hakim got injured and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The protesters are also demanding the resignation of the Speaker of Parliament.
