Beirut: Protests have continued in Lebanon since the Beirut explosion. After the explosion, Kataar Damianos is the second cabinet minister who has resigned amidst the outrage in Lebanon. In a statement released late last night, Environment Minister Damianos said that he is resigning from his ministerial position, showing solidarity with the victims. 160 people have died in the Beirut blast, while 6,000 people have been injured.
Damianos described the ruling system in Lebanon as bad, saying that many opportunities for improvement went waste. Damianos had already offered his resignation on Sunday. However, he was also discussing with Lebanese PM Hasan Dib. People in Lebanon are blaming negligence and mismanagement for the blast. People are protesting fiercely in Beirut amid calls by government officials to resign. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the second cabinet minister quit his post. Earlier, Lebanese Information and Broadcasting Minister Menal Abdel-Samad resigned.
After the explosion in Beirut, there are constant protests. Lebanese ministries surrounded the protesters in Beirut on Saturday. Earlier, there was a scuffle between protesters and police in Lebanon. Controversy erupted between protesters and security forces heading towards Parliament. After which the protesters had to fire tear gas to control it.
