Second meeting of CCS on Afghanistan issue within 24 hours!

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday reviewed the government's strategy to bring Indian citizens home from Afghanistan and ensure the safety of Hindu and Sikh communities in Afghanistan in the coming days at a cabinet committee meeting (CCS) on security. This is the second meeting of the CCS in 24 hours amid the rapidly changing situation in Afghanistan.

PM Modi chaired the first CCS meeting on Tuesday evening and directed the officials to expedite the evacuation of Indians stranded in the war-torn country in the next few days and provide them with all possible assistance. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar.

Though the details of the meeting have not been shared, sources have revealed that PM Modi reviewed the strategies formulated by the government. The government on Tuesday asked to deal with the situation in Afghanistan. He has already directed the authorities to ensure the safety of Hindus and Sikhs and also asked the authorities to stay in touch with their leaders in Kabul.
