Srinagar: Section 144 has been imposed in Jammu from 6 AM on Monday in view of the tense atmosphere prevailing for the past several days. With this, 40 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed in 8 districts of Jammu in view of security. In addition, section 144 has been imposed in Srinagar. All educational institutions have also been directed to remain closed till further orders.
Internet and mobile services have also been suspended in several areas including Srinagar and Jammu on Sunday night. Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have claimed that they have been detained in their home. Section 144 has also been imposed in Udhampur, Doda and Reasi adjoining Jammu. Schools and colleges have also been closed in all these locations.
The Union Cabinet is also scheduled to meet at 9:30 this morning at the Prime Minister's residence in Delhi. Efforts are being made to brainstorm on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, removal of Article 35A and Section 370. In view of the tense situation in the valley, Governor Satypal Malik has also held an emergency meeting with the DGP of the state.
