Security forces defuse IED in J-K, confirms Rajesh Kumar, Commanding Officer

Srinagar [Jammu and Kashmir], January 13 (NT): The Armed forces on Saturday defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) installed near HMT Road in Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir.

A common team of civil police, second Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) carried out a reconnoiter team at the area, after receiving information about the explosive, for the duration of the wee hours of Saturday.

The explosive was recovered closest to a road divider by the security forces with the assistance of a dog force.

"We received an information about the IED at 3 am. With the help of our dog squad, the explosive, which was placed adjacent to the road divider, was found. The engineering squad of the army then defused the bomb," Rajesh Kumar, Commanding Officer told ANI in an interview.

Last week, four policemen were killed in an IED explosion in Sopore.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Munir Khan had asserted that they will look into the subject and chalk out a new line of attack to tackle with such a situation.(NT)
