Washington: The security arrangements in the White House, major commercial areas and markets have been strengthened amid fears of violence on election day in the United States (USA). Before the voting on Tuesday, important government establishments have been kept on high alert. The Secret Service (Intelligence Service) has converted the White House into a fortress. After this, a temporary high wall has been erected around the White House.

On the eve of the election, in the view of apprehension of violence, workers were seen installing wooden frames for security at major shops and stores. This process appeared from New York to Boston and Houston to Washington and Chicago. The US presidential election of 2020 is considered one of the most divisive elections in the country's recent history. Supporters on both sides have announced that they will be gathering in the middle of Washington since vote counting began on Tuesday night, including those related to the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.

Several shops and business establishments in Washington were damaged in violent protests that erupted after George Floyd's death in police custody earlier this year. The Washington Post reported that shoppers are putting wooden boards on their shop windows and taking extra security in view of the possibility of such violence after the election.
