IPS GP Singh booked for sedition, accused of conspiring against govt

Raipur: Suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Chhattisgarh, GP Singh, who was caught in the grip of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), was booked under sedition at 12 pm on Thursday. Some letters, torn pages, and pen drives were recovered from his government bungalow, which revealed anti-government activities.

A case has since been registered in City Kotwali. On the other hand, GP Singh was last seen in Bilaspur. They dodged the police from there and disappeared. However, they may be arrested soon. IPS GP Singh is the First Officer of the Indian Police Service to be booked for sedition in the state. ACB raided Singh's government bungalow at the police line at 6 am on July 1. Simultaneous action was also taken at 15 other locations. During the operation, which lasted for more than 68 hours, several documents were found from the gutter behind the bungalow with undisclosed assets of Rs 10 crore. These are the ones who have been treated as evidence for sedition.

Documents extracted from diary pages and pen drives had indicated anti-government activities. The documents were reported to the police by the ACB three days ago. The police examined them for about 2 days before the operation. This was followed by a statement from the officers involved in the raid. A case was registered on the basis of his statements and documents.
