Ranchi: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly strangled his wife's lover with an axe over an illicit relationship with his wife at Sundi Tola in Lonjo village under Sonuwa police station area here, police said on Sunday. The incident took place late on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Shyamlal Hembram of Segaisai village under Sonuwa police station.  

On receiving the same news, Sonuwa police station in-charge Sohan Lal along with the police force reached Lonjo village on Saturday morning and recovered the body. Due to this, the criminal Vishwanath Sundi was arrested and the axe used in the murder was recovered. The body was sent to Chakradharpur sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.

According to the news, Shyamlal Hembram of Segaisai village had an illicit affair with the wife of Vishwanath Sundi of Lonjo village. Shyamlal had reached Vishwanath's house in Lonjo village on Friday night to meet his wife. Due to this, Vishwanath caught Shyamlal in an objectionable position along with his wife. After this, Vishwanath beat Shyamlal, tied him to a tree near the house and attacked him on the neck with an axe, and killed him. On receiving the news of the incident on Saturday morning, the police reached the spot and recovered the body, and arrested the culprit. Police said that the husband has been arrested on charges of murder. The criminal's wife is being questioned. The police team is investigating the case. After the murder, a sensation spread in the area.
