Khandwa: In Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa, a situation of communal tension arose due to the uproar by Islamic fundamentalists. The administration had to impose Section 144. The ruckus started with a Muslim girl drinking juice with Hindu boys in a tea cafe. Some people from the Muslim community reached the cafe and created a ruckus. Misbehaved with the girl. The boys were thrashed and kidnapped. Later, the girl was forced to file a molestation case against the Hindu youths. Stoned at the police station.

The case is of Sunday (16 April 2023). According to the information received, a Muslim girl, along with Atul and Satyam, were drinking juice at the Tea Cafe in the Anandnagar area. Because of this, some Muslim youth reached there and started arguing. Fight with girls and boys. Then they picked up the boys and took them to the Dargah in Khanshahwali Colony. On reaching the spot, the police rescued the boys. Thereafter, late at night, the Muslims laid siege to the Moghat police station. Ward councillor Ashfaq Sigad reached out to the girl and started pressuring the Hindu youths to file a case. The crowd also pelted stones and shouted slogans.

In this connection, a journalist has shared part of the complaint lodged by the girl on Twitter. It states, "On the afternoon of April 16, I went to Tea Cafe in Anand Nagar along with Satyam Bawane sir and Atul Bhaiya. Was discussing with him while drinking juice. Then Azhar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Shadab, and Mohsin came along with 3–4 other people. They dragged us outside the cafe and started thrashing us. They told me why you had come with them. Have the Muslims fallen short? Gave me obscene abuse. Beat up. Shadab slapped me hard and made me fall down. They told me that if she ever comes now, we will kill her. On the complaint of the victim, a case was registered at police station Moghat. 16 people were accused.

Thereafter, Councillor Ashraf and Umaid reached the police station with the mob. The crowd started shouting slogans at the police station. These people put pressure on the police to write another case and take action against the Hindus. When the police dispersed the crowd, the stone-pelting started. The police had to use force to control the situation. There is also a criminal record for Councillor Ashraf, who was leading the mob that created a ruckus at the police station. Cases of murder, attempted murder, Dalit harassment, threatening, etc. have already been registered against him. Police have registered a case under Sections 353, 332, 147, 148, and 149 of the IPC, making him a criminal in this latest case as well. Ashraf Umaid has been arrested. Mohammad Irfan and Azhar Ali have also been arrested for assaulting Hindu boys in the cafe. The police are looking for the rest of the criminals on the basis of CCTV footage.
