Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Jimuta Mangraj died tragically in a road accident in the Khurda district of Odisha. His death has been reported by some members of his own family. Mangraj was 63 years old. They have a son and a daughter in their family. His wife passed away in 2013.
Police said the accident took place around 8 pm on Sunday on NH-16 in Janla. Mangraj was returning to Bhubaneswar by bike with medicines for his mother in Sarapari village near Khurda town. Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle hit his bike. They were run over by the vehicle as soon as they fell down and died on the spot. Mangraj was known for his analytical writing and columns. He worked as a freelancer for many Oriya-language newspapers. Mangraj had also written several books including 'Biju Biju Biju.'
Several senior leaders and CM Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik and many others have condoled his death. The news of his death has sent shock waves in the media world. Everyone has expressed their condolences to his family.
