Market frontline indices (Senex, Nifty) ended the day lower, as global cues continued to remain weak.  The NSE Nifty ended the week lower by almost 2.4 percent, as Covid-19 cases around the globe continued to impact sentiments.

On closing, the Nifty lost 28.40 points at 11642 marks, while the BSE Senex slipped 135 points at 39,614.07.  Among the top losers from the Nifty were Bharti Airtel, HeroMotoCorp, Maruti, Eicher Motors and Bajaj Finance. Conversely, top gainers were Adani Ports, Bharat petroleum Corp (BPCL) Coal India, NTPC and Sun Pharma.

Banking stocks which have had a strong rally over the last few weeks managed to end lower, with the Bank Nifty seeing cuts of nearly 1 percent.

Shares in Indian Oil gained ground after the company reported a strong set of results. Net profits of the company surged almost 4 times to Rs 6227 crores, following inventory gains. Shares of Dilip Buildcon witnessed some buying support and ended higher after the company informed the bourses that its wholly-owned subsidiary 'Dodaballapur Hoskote Highways Pvt. Ltd.' has executed the concession agreement with the NHA of India.
