Guwahati: The Assam government has announced the major decisions taken in the weekly Assam Cabinet. Vaccination camps are to be organized in the offices of Block Elementary Education Officer, District. Elementary Education Officer, Inspector of Schools and all University campuses from 27 August 2021 to 5 September 2021. The SOP regarding reopening of institutions will be announced on or before August 31.

The Assam government has decided to observe the birthday of Arjun Bhogeshwar Barua on 3rd September as Sports Day. The regular sports pension for sportspersons, organizers and technical officials has been increased from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000. Medal winners of national and international championships will be provided a lifetime pension of Rs 10,000 per month. A one-time assistance of Rs 50,000 will be provided to the medal winners who are in employment.
The Assam government also announced the establishment of 8 building circles, 20 building divisions, 28 building sub-divisions, 4 electrical circles, 8 electrical divisions and 17 electrical sub-divisions. 3150 new posts have been created in Public Works Department (Building and National Highways), which includes 804 technical posts. All temporary and proposed 14 zones, 44 divisions and 86 sub-divisions are to be made permanent. In order to facilitate smooth implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, the Government of Assam has announced to create PHE Division in Majuli with Headquarters at Kamalabari, Balaji with Headquarters at Pathshala, and South Salmara Mankachar with Headquarters at Hatsingimari. Nazira PHE Division is to be shifted to Sonari and renamed as Charaideo Division. 93 new posts will be created for the new divisions.
