Us women's tennis legend Serena Williams has once again suffered a setback in the new WTA rankings. Serena, 40, has dropped out of the world's top 50 list for the first time since 2006. Serena lost 12 places in the latest women's rankings released on Monday and has now slipped to 59th position.

Serena, who won 23 Grand Slam titles, participated in just 6 tournaments in 2021 and missed a single tournament after being ruled out of the first round of Wimbledon due to injury. Australia's star player Ashley Barty remains at the top with 7111 points. Belarus' Arena Sabalenka has also strengthened its grip on the second spot. The two players are accompanied by Spain's GarbinE Muguruza, Czech Barbora Krejcikova and Carolina Pliskova at number three, fourth and 5 respectively.

Paula Barosa, winner of the Sydney Classic, has moved up three places to the best sixth position of her career. The 24-year-old Spaniard, Barosa, started with 67th rank last year and has since reached the quarterfinals of the French Open. Us' Madison Cage, who won the Adelaide International tournament, has jumped 36 places to 51st position.
