Recently US veteran women's tennis player Serena Williams made a positive start to the 2020 season by defeating Italy qualifier Camilla Georgi in straight sets at the Auckland WTA Classic Tennis Tournament. Keeping an eye on the Australian Open to be held in the month, 38-year-old American player Serena defeated world number 99 Camilla 6-3, 6-2. While Serena was initially scheduled to play against two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia, but the opposing players withdrew from the tournament due to illness.

The world number 122 player Prajnesh suffered a 4-6, 6-7 defeat against the Japanese player in the ATP Challenger competition, ranking 16 places better than him. The Indian player had 6 hours during the match which lasted one hour and 30 minutes. One of them was able to take advantage of only one breakpoint, while he saved 6 out of 8 breakpoints against him. Prajnesh said, 'It was a close match and I got a lot of opportunities, but I could not take advantage of them. I made a lot of mistakes. I was aggressive and I tried to attack and that was the positive side of the match.'
