Mumbai: In a tragic incident on Sunday morning, seven members of the same family, including a seven-year-old girl, lost their lives when a fire broke out in a shop-cum-residential building in Mumbai's Chembur area. The fire, classified as a 'level one' blaze, started around 5:20 am in the double-storey structure.

According to officials, the fire originated on the ground floor, which was being used as a shop. It is believed that faulty electric wiring and installations in the shop caught fire, which then quickly spread to the upper floor where the family resided. Among the victims are Paris Gupta, a seven-year-old girl, and her relatives, Manju Prem Gupta (30), Anita Gupta (39), Prem Gupta (30), and Narendra Gupta (10). Details of two other victims are yet to be disclosed by authorities.

Despite fire department efforts to bring the blaze under control, the family could not be saved in time. The incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about fire safety in mixed-use buildings like the one involved in this tragedy. The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire, and the authorities have urged locals to take necessary precautions to avoid such incidents in the future.
