Ujjain: The mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, had its first Monday of Sawan yesterday. A crowd of devotees gathered. Several women and children were also injured in the stampede. Yes, as per the information received, the people inside the temple say that the temple was crowded with VIP people who had come to visit the temple, which brought the situation out of control. Let me tell you that on the first Monday of Sawan, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former chief minister Uma Bharti and many VIPs had reached the temple for darshan.

A huge crowd of devotees had also arrived here. Now a video of the temple is going viral on social media showing devotees breaking through the security cordon from gate 4 of the temple and entering with a scuffle which created a stampede-like situation. Most importantly, the increased accident averted and no one lost their lives. The video shows the police deployed to control the situation. Let us also tell you that Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

Last month, the temple was opened to people who have received at least one dose of corona vaccine or whose RTPCR report 48 hours ago is negative. Let me tell you that the administration has fixed the number of darshan of 3500 people between 6 am and 8 pm to enter the temple. Confirming the incident, Ujjain District Collector Ashish Singh confirmed the incident and said, "The situation will remain normal next Monday. The incident last Monday was an exception. We will plan for next Monday and social distancing will be followed.''
