New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the maximum temperature could remain below normal in most parts of the country except parts of northwest India and most parts of northeast India. According to the Met department, the northernmost areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are going through difficult conditions. The minimum temperature has dropped below zero across Kashmir and according to data from various centres of the Valley in Srinagar, Tuesday night was the coldest night of the season.
IMD has issued orange alerts for Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa asking people to be prepared for heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds. At the same time, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is also on orange alert. Heavy rain and snowfall are expected in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday due to western disturbances. In addition, north Gujarat and north-west Maharashtra may also receive heavy rain.
The Met department has said that a cyclonic storm may also hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Saturday morning. There may be a big change in the weather. According to IMD, mumbai is expected to receive heavy rainfall in the coming 12 hours as a low pressure area over the Andaman Sea and a cyclonic storm intensifies over the central Bay of Bengal around Friday.
