Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is set to be honored with the Career Achievement Award at Switzerland's prestigious 77th Locarno Film Festival. The Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism Award recognizes his illustrious career spanning over 100 films across various genres. Scheduled from August 7 to 17, the festival will celebrate Khan's remarkable contributions to cinema.
Past recipients of the Pardo alla Carriera include renowned personalities like Italian filmmaker Francesco Rosi, Italian actor Claudia Cardinale, American singer-actor Harry Belafonte, and Malaysian filmmaker Tsai Ming-Liang.
Shah Rukh Khan, who received France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007 and the Légion d'honneur in 2014, has also been honored with India's prestigious Padma Shri.
Highlighting Khan's recent successes, the Locarno Film Festival noted the commercial triumph and global acclaim of his 2023 films "Pathaan," "Jawan," and "Dunki." These achievements underscore Khan's global popularity and his role as a cultural ambassador for Indian cinema at international film festivals.
The award ceremony will take place on August 10 at Piazza Grande, where Khan's iconic film "Devdas," directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit, will be screened as part of Locarno77. Khan will also engage in a public panel discussion the following day.
