Mumbai: The domestic stock market closed flat on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, amid a positive trend in international markets. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) fell 8.41 points to 37973.22, with a slight weakness of 0.02 per cent. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 0.05 per cent (5.15 points) to close at 11222.40.

Investors are said to be eyeing the us presidential debate and this week's economic activities. The US-market Dow Jones strengthened 1.51 per cent to close at 27,584.10, up 410.10 points. The Nasdaq also gained 1.91 per cent to close at 11,364.50. The S&P was up 1.61 per cent at 3351.60, up 53.14 points. At the same time, the European stock market also registered a spectacular lead. However, Japan's Nikkei registered a marginal decline of 0.30 per cent and hong kong markets by 0.56 per cent.

While talking about the legendary shares of Indian Bhajar, shares of Hindalco, Ultratec Cement, Hero MotoCorp, Titan and TCS closed with an edge today. Shares of UPL, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, power grid and Axis Bank registered a decline.
