Sensex surges 100 points in opening trade, nifty declines

New Delhi: The Sensex has registered a decline of over 100 points in early trade on Tuesday due to declines by big companies like Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Infosys. The decline in global markets has also seen pressure at the domestic level. The Sensex, a major index of 30 shares of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), started trading with an edge.

However, it started showing sales in a little while, down 123.22 points, or 0.31%, to 40,022.28. Similarly, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 29.65 points, or 0.25%, to 11,738.10. In The Sensex, IndusInd Bank declined the highest by about 3%. This was followed by ICICI Bank, ONGC, SBI, HDFC, Infosys and Reliance Industries.

On the other hand, Kotak Bank registered a growth of 6%. Ntpc, Nestle India, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) were also bullish. The Sensex had dropped 540 points, or 1.33%, to 40,145.50 in the previous session. The nifty had closed at 11,767.75, up 162.60 points, or 1.36%.
