Due to controversial statements in the Jamia violence case, Sharjeel Imam came in the discussion. Now the Special Cell of Delhi Police has clamped down him. A team of the special cell has reached Assam to discuss with Sharjeel Imam. Where he was arrested after a long interrogation by the Special Cell. Before the discussion, the team of Special Cell had also conducted a corona examination of Sharjeel Imam. His test report has come positive. After Sharjeel Imam is found to corona positive, there is a possibility of delay in the exercise to bring him Delhi. 

Delhi police had registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against Jawaharlal Nehru University alumni Sharjeel Imam. Delhi Police have filed an application in Saket court seeking exemption in the limit of 90 days described for investigation. Accepting the plea of Delhi Police, the Saket court has given additional time to Police. Sharjeel Imam approached the High Court against this decision of the Saket court and requested the court for bail.

After hearing the bail application, the High Court has given a strong blow to Sharjeel Imam. Facing charges of treason, Sharjeel Imam demanded the High Court to grant bail. Earlier, Delhi Police had filed an answer in the High Court, that more time is required for investigation against Imam.
