A ship headed to the United States from Reliance's Sikka port in Western India reportedly collided with Bharat Petroleum Corp's (BPCL) crude import facility late on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the incident.

The vessel, named Hafnia Seine, was transporting a type of fuel called alkylate for Reliance Industries' U.S. branch from a refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat state. The extent of the damage caused by the accident is currently unknown.

Sources stated that the ship seems to have struck the outer structure of the single point mooring (SPM). Currently, there are no plans for any other vessel to dock at the SPM.

BPCL employs a single point mooring at Sikka for importing crude to supply its Bina refinery located in central India.

Neither Reliance Industries nor Bharat Petroleum Corp have responded immediately to requests for comments from Reuters. The sources chose to remain anonymous as they are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
