Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized the central government's handling of the ongoing farmers' protest on the Delhi borders. Raut expressed concern over the treatment of farmers, stating that the way they are being stopped is unjust, leading to injuries and arrests.

"The protestors represent farmers from across the country. However, the manner in which they are being obstructed is unacceptable. Over 100 farmers have been injured, and many have been detained. It appears as if large prisons have been created. While farmers are facing oppression in India, PM Modi is traveling abroad, Amit Shah remains silent, and the agriculture minister has not been allowed to engage in dialogue," Raut remarked. "Today, the farmers have called for a Bharat Bandh, but this message has not reached the entire nation. The MVA will discuss the future of this agitation, and Shiv Sena is in constant communication with the protestors," he added.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, currently in Bihar as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, also criticized the center for deploying heavy security to suppress the protest. "It is regrettable that the Modi government is treating farmers in this manner. Tear gas is being used, and nails have been laid out, as if the government is at war with the farmers and their organizations. They have been prevented from reaching Delhi, and I reiterate that the Modi government's specialty lies in 'Respect for donors and disrespect for food providers,'" Jairam Ramesh stated.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have issued a "Delhi Chalo" call to pressure the BJP-led Centre to meet their demands. Farmers from Punjab initiated their march to the national capital on Tuesday but were halted by security personnel at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana. The protesting farmers have established camps at these border points.
