Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has attacked Congress with freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. He has made a scathing attack through an article in Saamna. Sanjay Raut wrote that, 'Those who had no contribution in the freedom struggle and the creation of the country, they are putting Swatantravir in the dock of criminals'.

Sanjay Raut wrote in the Saamana that, 'Now it has become fashion. There is a fierce battle once again about Veer Savarkar. Veer Savarkar apologized to the British, so he was released. Savarkar is an apology, the accusation has been repeated. Many times doubts were expressed about Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru's participation in the freedom struggle. But the torture, torture on the part of Veer Savarkar and innumerable armed revolutionaries like him who came to the Andaman jail, those kinds of tortures did not come in the part of Gandhi, Nehru, Bose, Sardar Patel.

Sanjay Raut wrote that, 'Some revolutionaries hung on the gallows. Some like Veer Savarkar kept hanging in the Andaman dungeon every day for 14 years. Veer Savarkar left with a special apology to the British, it is semi-truth. And suppose he must have played a 'wager' of forgiveness to get out of Andaman, then there is something wrong in that, I don't think so. Savarkar may have done a 'drama of apology' to get out of Andaman, so it was not due to fear or was not anti-national. In politics, such diplomatic stakes were played all over the world.
