NEW DELHI: Police reported on Monday that an 87-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the Tilak Nagar area of the national capital.According to the police, the daughter of a senior citizen filed a written complaint of mobile phone theft from a house in Tilak Nagar on Sunday, February 13, and a FIR was filed under section 380 (Theft in Dwelling House) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant, however, stated on Monday that the senior citizen in the property where the crime occurred was also allegedly raped.

"Today, the complainant has made further allegations of sexual assault, and as a result, relevant sections of law have been added to the FIR, and an investigation has begun," police said.

According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Delhi had the greatest number of crimes against women of all the country's metropolitan cities four months ago.

According to the Delhi Police, 1,725 women were allegedly raped in the city between October 31, 2021 and October 31, 2022. Until the same point in 2020, 1,429 women were subjected to the horrible crime.
