Shocking: Stuntman dies after falling from 20 feet on set of Vijay Sethupathi’s Viduthalai

A shocking incident take place on the film set of Vijay Sethupathi. A 54-year-old stuntman died on the sets of Vetrimaaran’s upcoming movie Viduthalai on Saturday. As per the information the deceased has been identified as Suresh. He has been a stunt coordinator for several years, and was helping another stunt coordinator on the film’s set created near Vandalur in Chennai. The stunt turns his last stunt and Suresh passes away after the accident.

As per the information, A set of train wrecks was being filmed when Suresh and a few others were tied to a rope harness for the stunt sequence. Suresh was also secured to a rope held by a crane and as the scene began, the rope snapped. Suresh fell from nearly 20 feet high and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Police has registered a case. Suresh is survived by his wife and two children. 

The stunt scene required Suresh as he was tied to a rope attached to a crane, to jump and run atop collapsed train compartments on a temporary bridge. After which he fell from 20 ft high and died. This is not the first incident earlier in  2020 February, three technicians were crushed to death on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 after a crane fell on them. After the incident, the shoot came to a standstill and resumed after two years this September. 

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2,  and filmmaker Shankar and Lyca Productions had given ₹1 crore each to the families of the deceased. Kamal Haasan also in an interview opens up on increasing the safety arrangement for shooting action scene. Now in this shocking incident another stuntman lost his life. 

Speaking about the film, It features Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. The film is based on a short story called Thunavian written by B Jeyamohan. It went on floors in 2020 and the director has been shooting for the film across forest locations in Tamil Nadu. The film has been made in two parts. The film also stars Gautham Menon and Prakash Raj among others.
