Shooting World Cup: Lajja, Anjum miss final by one point

Despite putting up one of their best performances, Lajja Gauswami and Anjum Moudgil narrowly missed out qualification for the final of the women's 50m rifle three-position event in the ISSF World Cup on Tuesday. The duo ended up just one point behind the qualification mark in the end.

Anjum and Lajja shot identical scores of 582 in their qualification round to eventually finish on 15th and 17th spots respectively.It was a closely fought qualification round where four out of the eight women who made it to the finals had scored 583, just one point ahead of the Indian pair.

In the men's 10M air pistol event, Jitu Rai finished a disappointing 22nd in qualification with a score of 579, while Oleh Omelchuk of Ukraine bagged the top spot with 588. Gurpreet Singh and Omkar Singh finished 32nd and 52nd respectively with scores of 578 and 574.
