Chandigarh: Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday announced some new slackness in urban areas in view of suggestions from the state's Congress MLA and medical experts. This includes the opening of non-essential commodities shops on Saturdays and relaxation of opening the shops from Monday to Saturday till 9 pm.

According to the revised decision, the towns will now have a curfew from 9.30 pm to 5 am. Hotels and restaurants have also been allowed to be open until 9 pm for seven days, including Sundays. Home delivery of food will be allowed after 9 pm. The announcement was also made at the time of the second round of the virtual meeting convened by the CM to discuss the situation in COVID with Congress MLAs.

The captain also told in the meeting that Dr K.K. Talwar, head of the Experts Group of the State Government of Corona, has advised providing this relaxation along with all the precaution. It has also been decided to connect with Chandigarh and Panchkula at the moment of opening of non-essential commodities shops in Mohali. Even after the shops were closed for a long time, the CM ordered the power department not to take bills as per last year's average.
