Kolkata: Suvendu Adhikari has also resigned from the primary membership of Trinamool Congress (TMC) after leaving the MLA post. In a letter to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Suvendu said, "I am writing to resign from all posts as a member of TMC as well as in the party and its allied organs with immediate effect."

Suvendu said, "I am grateful for all the challenges and opportunities that have been spent for me and I will always value my time spent as a member of the party." After this, it is believed that he can join BJP in Amit Shah's rally in West Bengal this Saturday. The officer was the face of the Nandigram movement, through which the Mamata government returned to West Bengal in 2011. According to the report, TMC MLA from Nandigram Assembly constituency in Purba Medinipur district resigned from the state cabinet last month.

Election strategist Prashant Kishor and Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbor seat and Suvendu Adhikari were angry with the increasing dominance of CM's nephew Abhishek Banerjee in the party process. Making a statement on the officer's resignation, West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee said, "I have received the resignation of Suvendu Adhikari from my Secretariat. I have investigated this and will issue a detailed order." Until then, it is too early to say whether it has been accepted or rejected.
