Thiruvananthapuram: An unofficial Test match is being played between India-A and South Africa-A in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. On the second day of this Test match, India A scored 303 runs in the first innings to take a lead of 139 runs. Jalaj Saxena also scored an unbeaten 61 for India-A in this four-day match. By the end of the day's play, India A had dropped five wickets for 125 runs in the second innings of South Africa A.
The visiting team is still 14 runs behind India A. South Africa's first innings was restricted to 164 runs. Captain Shubman Gill scored a brilliant 90 runs. Earlier, India-A started the day at 129 for two when Gill 66 and Ankit Bawain were playing for six.
Gill then joined KS Bharat (33) and the two shared a 44-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Dan Pete bowled Gill and broke the partnership. He hit 13 fours and a six in a 153-ball inning. The Indian team was in a bit of trouble after losing seven wickets before 200 runs but Saxena and Shardul Thakur (34) put on a century partnership to take the team closer to 300 runs and ensure a big lead. All-rounder Saxena hit 11 fours in a 96-ball unbeaten inning.
