Srinagar: On Friday, the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) announced its decision to contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections from three constituencies. In a statement, APSCC revealed that S. Pushvinder Singh would be its candidate for the Tral constituency in Pulwama district. The candidates for the Central Shalteng seat in Srinagar and Baramulla will be declared at a later date.

APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina expressed confidence that the Sikh community's candidates would succeed with the support of the region's majority community. He called on the majority population to back Sikh candidates, noting that their victory would send a positive message from Kashmir, countering the narrative that Kashmiris are aligned with separatist and anti-national sentiments.

The elections for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with the results set to be announced on October 4.
