The Indian women's doubles team comprising N Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa was ruled out of the upcoming Uber Cup tournament on Friday due to injury. The Indian Badminton Association (BAI) has issued this information. Sikki Reddy has been advised to rest by the doctor due to injury, due to which the Indian duo had to take this decision. The Uber Cup is scheduled to be played in Bangkok from May 8 to 15.
In a statement, bai said, "Sikki Reddy has grade 2 tier (abdominal rectums) in his stomach which has been confirmed in MRI and has been advised by the doctor for 4 to 6 weeks of rest.''
BAI general secretary Sanjay Mishra said, "Under these circumstances, the duo has withdrawn from the upcoming BATC apart from the Uber Cup and the selectors have decided to include Simran Singh and Ritika Thakkar in their place as they have moved up to the fourth position in the rankings between the selection trials.'' The BAI has also announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the Thomas and Uber Cup a day earlier.
