The central government had supplied over 66 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to over 70 countries as part of the Vaccine Maitri initiative earlier this year. He said that surplus vaccines would be exported as per India's commitment to collective fight against COVID-19.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also said that in the month of October alone, more than 30 crore doses of Kovid-19 vaccines will be produced in India. He told the media that more than 100 crore doses will be produced in the fourth quarter of this year. The Center had halted the export of COVID-19 vaccines in March due to a sharp jump in the number of infections back home.
