In a horrific incident the Sikkim Police have detained a 32-year-old man from Bihar's Chapra district for allegedly killing his girlfriend in a hotel in Gangtok.

Gyaneshwar Singh, a Chapra resident, has been identified as the person detained. He has been charged with the murder of his 26-year-old girlfriend. On Tuesday night, he was transported to Gangtok. Singh, who had been on the run since December, was apprehended with the help of Bihar cops.

According to a police officer, Singh and his girlfriend arrived in Gangtok on December 27 and checked into a hotel. He had a fight with his girlfriend after a night over his alleged affair with someone else.The dispute evolved into a fight the next day, and he kicked her in the stomach.

The fight happened on December 29, and both of them went to sleep thereafter, but when he awoke the next morning, he discovered his girlfriend dead next to him. When he discovered this, he fled and has been missing ever since.
