Kolkata: BJP workers led by local MLA Shankar Ghosh started taking out Yuva Sankalp yatra in Siliguri, West Bengal on Tuesday without permission. About 30 BJP workers, including MLA, were arrested by the Siliguri police from the party office for taking out the rally without permission. There was also a scuffle between the police and BJP workers.
After which the police arrested all the workers present there and put them on the police bus. Siliguri Metropolitan Police DCP said they have been arrested because they had not taken clearance for the Yuva Sankalp Yatra. It may be recalled that on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha is taking out Yuva Sankalp Yatra across the country. In the same vein, BJP workers also gathered at the party office in Siliguri in West Bengal on Tuesday to take out the Yuva Sankalp Yatra.
The Sankalp Yatra was to be led by BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh of Siliguri but the yatra was not approved by the police. As a result, the Siliguri police arrested about 30 BJP workers even before the yatra began.
