Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu stormed into the final of an event for the first time this year, defeating Singapore's Yeo Jia Min in straight games in the Madrid Spain Masters Super 300 badminton tournament here on Saturday. Second seed Sindhu defeated her lower-ranked Singapore opponent 24–22, 22–20 in the women's singles semi-finals.

The win moved his record against Min to 4-0. In the first game, Sindhu was trailing 15-20 at one stage, but she showed great resilience and saved 7 game points to take the first game. In the second game, Sindhu was initially trailing 1-4 but fought back well to lead 11-6 at the intermission. World No. 33 Min then made a comeback and levelled the score at 17-17.

Sindhu had two match points after that, but Min saved both of them. After which, when the Indian player got the third match point, there was absolutely no mistake in winning it. In the final, she will take on a local player and the winner of the other semi-final match between top seed Carolina Marin and Gregoria Tunjung of Indonesia.
